Roelf Meyer presents credentials to Donald Trump

WASHINGTON - Veteran negotiator Roelf Meyer has presented his credentials to President Donald Trump in Washington DC.

Meyer is now accredited as South Africa's ambassador to the US.

He says he was warmly welcomed, along with other 12 diplomats.

The 78-year-old takes over from Ebrahim Rasool, who was declared persona non grata, and expelled for his comments on Trump.

This worsened relations between the two countries with the US continuing with its unsubstantiated claims of white genocide in South Africa.
